Wind Ensemble Honors
This two-semester course is designed for instrumentalists with an advanced skill set. Performance techniques and interpretive skills are emphasized while collegiate or professional levels of music of diverse styles and historical periods are rehearsed and performed. Performance opportunities provide students with a comprehensive musical experience, Units in the curriculum include, marching band, preparation for the winter concert, pep band, solo and ensemble contest, organizational contest and preparation for the spring concert and graduation performances. The marching band portion of the curriculum includes performances at competitions, local parades, and home football games. Pep band performances are held at varsity home basketball games and school assemblies. Other performance opportunities include the winter and spring concerts, district festivals, performances at local schools, community functions and competitions. Students in this honors level band course are also expected to complete a project and a portfolio which draw upon their personal musical strengths and experiences. The above activities may vary from year to year. This course may be repeated for additional credit.
