About the Grayslake Central Jazz Band:
The GCHS Jazz Band is a performance-oriented ensemble designed for any students who are interested in learning to play jazz music. All instruments are welcome to join, but the students must be able to read standard sheet music. Students are selected following an audition involving playing through a sample instrument part, improvising to B-flat or F-blues, and sight-reading. The Jazz Ensemble meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays before school from 7-8am, and performs at events such as Jazz Night once a semester along with the Jazz Choir.
